We are visiting West Cork for 10 days in August with our Labrador - are looking for beaches where dogs can be off the lead - even if it's only at certain times of the day. Our dog loves running & swimming so having to be on a lead isn't great for her (or us!). Would appreciate ideas of where we can take her.

Ok well weather in this part of West Cork can be funny in September yes there are shorter days but this year we are hoping that we might get an Indian Summer, that can happen or you could get rain, gales around here seldom happen until later on ,in fact you can get gales like last Friday in July but this year has been horrible all around .If that happens Crookhaven, and Goleen are only a few minutes drive....inside a half hour there's Schull,Ballydehob, Durrus, Bantry and Skibbereen, plenty restaurants and pubs and other things like Bantry House,Skibbereen Heritage Center.just to pick two on a wet day are well worth a visit...
