A month after the L.A. firestorms brought unprecedented levels of destruction, the region is still grappling with basic questions about what caused the blazes, why evacuations were so chaotic and whether officials were prepared.

Southern California Edison (SCE), a subsidiary of Edison International , said on Thursday that it was probing whether its equipment was associated with the ignition of two Los Angeles-area wildfires this year.

California utility company Southern California Edison on Thursday said its equipment “may be associated with” the ignition of the Hurst Fire, which burned alongside the Eaton and Palisades fires during January’s Los Angeles firestorms.
