This equates to a 50 percent increase in power over the original basic engine development of the Veyron 16.4 and an approximately 24 percent increase over the Veyron 16.4 Super Sport.

At the heart of these cars was the world’s most advanced automotive engine: an 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16. Now, 20 years after Bugatti invented the hyper sports car, it redefines the concept completely with an entirely new powertrain and platform. This is the Bugatti Tourbillon.

The BUGATTI VEYRON engine is designed in a so-called W configuration. Unlike other W engines made by Volkswagen, it has a 90 degree bank angle. Each bank has eight cylinders in a VR arrangement, ensuring optimum use of the available space.

Intelligent aerodynamics begin at the distinctive front design of the CHIRON, serving as intake, routing air to the front brakes. Functionality fuses with aesthetics across the CHIRON’s distinct profile — enhancing cooling efficiency to the engine.

The TOURBILLON converges the immediate torque and flexibility of electric motors with the spine-tingling emotion of a naturally aspirated V16 engine.

ENGINE. The heart and soul of the VEYRON is the 8.0-liter W16 engine with four turbochargers, which initially generated 1,001 PS, and an incredible 1,200 PS in later models. The 16-cylinder mid-engine is 710 mm in length, no longer than a conventional V12 engine, and weighs just 490 kg due to its lightweight construction.
