Gopalasamudram is a panchayat town in Tirunelveli district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Gopalasamudram is situated on the banks of the river Tamirabarani. Gopalasamudram comes under the taluk of Cheranmahadevi.

Gopalasamudram Narayanan Ramachandran, or G.N. Ramachandran, FRS (8 October 1922 – 7 April 2001) [1] was an Indian physicist who was known for his work that led to his creation of the Ramachandran plot for understanding peptide structure.

G N Ramachandran is among the most ingenious and impactful scientists in the history of Indian Science. He is most remembered for discovering the structure of the protein collagen and for conceptualizing the Ramachandran map.
